There was a time when inspirational postcards were sent from Munich, Germany, to supporters of the Crusade for Freedom and Radio Free Europe living in the United States. Here is one example that was postmarked October 10, 1959, and sent to a supporter in Helena, Montana. On the backside, the card's description read; "Refugee children sing songs of their homeland over Radio Free Europe, world's largest radio station, which is supported by the American people through the Crusade for Freedom"
The handwritten message on the backside contained this emotional message:
Greetings from the Crusade for Freedom. Here
in Germany we are seeing how the Crusade sends the light of truth and hope into
the darkness behind the Iron Curtain … a great work devotedly done.
Vara and Jane.
